As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.
This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule after the initial training period is complete.
Essential Functions
- Create end-user documents in accordance with the company’s strategies and standards.
- Leads the process of publications from initiation to release.
- Identify and implement required Technical Order (TO) development and changes using Adobe Frame Maker, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Illustrator based on a technical data package consisting of an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP), engineering drawings, and Logistics Management Information (LMI) data.
- Partner with Engineers, Product Support Analysts, Drafters, and internal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create technical publications, operating manuals, user guides, quick reference material, application and technical notes, training materials, etc.
- Lead in-process reviews and perform certifications and verifications of Technical Manuals with operators, peers, and customers.
- Lead project meetings with direct interface with engineering and our government customer.
- Coordinate and handle multiple tasks and projects; and provide guidance for the same to lPT members throughout the development lifecycle.
- Prepare Rough Order of Magnitude or Basis of Estimates
- Perform related duties as required, e.g., support to integrated logistics functions, and training/mentoring of technical publication and product support personnel.
- Perform data and configuration management activities associated with implementation of Technical Manuals.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced Technical Publications Specialists
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment and perform work and resolve problems with limited supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with specific emphasis on attention to detail.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication, English or related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience, preferably in a Sustaining or Development Engineering environment.
- Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional, and Microsoft Office applications, or other Desktop Publishing Programs.
- Working knowledge of materials, components, assemblies, computer, and peripheral hardware designs; parts.
- Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, e.g., Windchill or equivalent.
- Familiarity with S1000D authoring and publishing, preferred.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Ability to travel occasionally to remote sites, e.g., Pillar Point Air Force Station, and Pt. Mugu.
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License

The salary range for this role is $82,450 - $117,409; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills, and knowledge.
